The Circus is one of the post-Windmill Dungeons located at the northeast corner of the Underground Labyrinth.

History[]

During mid-late 1957, this circus had suffered a number of tragedies. On June 24th, a trapeze artist by the name of Alice Rutgers fractured both her shins following equipment failure. On July 17th, seven clowns retired due to near-fatal lung issues; a connection to a popular make-up brand was made, but never followed up on. On July 21st, a cage malfunction resulted in the mauling and disfiguring of an unnamed circus member (possibly a lion tamer or the ringmaster).

On August 5th, the unnamed circus member had a dream of "a stone face with fierce, shining eyes" (most likely the Seer) that promised to reveal the truth of their existence and offered to free them from "the pain." Eventually, on August 8th, the unnamed circus member "departed" (implied to have committed suicide) with some fellow followers of "the Seeing One," leaving behind some members such as the Servants.

Connections[]

Carved Rocks[]

  • July 21st, 1957: Following a cage malfunction, my face and side are severely mauled by an untamed lion. I survive, but now shudder to look at my own reflection.
  • June 24th, 1957: Trapeze swing breaks. Alice Rutgers is flung into the ground, resulting in two fractured shins.
  • July 17th, 1957: Seven clowns retire with near fatal lung issues. LANDBLEND brand makeup is suspect, but no formal investigation occurs.
  • August 5th, 1957: In my dream, I saw a stone face with fierce, shining eyes. He spoke of the truth of our existence and was the first to offer freedom from the pain.
  • August 7th, 1957: How many of us will suffer before we accept the truth of the Seeing One?
  • August 8th, 1957: I have come to my decision. A few of the others have said they will follow me. This will be my final entry. May the Seeing One look favorably upon us all.
